What Does It Mean to Dream About a Tree?
Tree Dreams Often Symbolize Life…
A recent reader recently asked for a dream interpretation and dream analysis of a very “vivid” dream.
I recently had a dream about trees. Trees were the main part of the dream that I can remember. They were surrounding me. The bright and beautiful colors of green are the thing I remember the most. I did see the sky and trunks of the trees, too – so browns and blue were also in my dream.
I felt so peaceful in my dream. I can’t even describe how cool this dream was. Everything was right in the world for me in my dream. It was just me and a lot of trees. I kept looking up at them and even thought how they looked like they were touching the sky. Does this seem like a strange dream to you? What does it mean? – Megan
First of all, the dream doesn’t seem at all strange to me – it seems perfectly wonderful! Trees are often symbolic of LIFE in our dreams. While there are exceptions, I believe that your dream is a classic example of this interpretation.
The fact that you “looked up” and noted that they “looked like they were touching the sky” are great news for your dream analysis. This indicates that you believe that things in your life are “looking up.” So much so that, in your heart, you believe that “the sky’s the limit!”
This is a very positive dream and you should feel 100 percent good about its meaning. This dream indicates that you are in a very good place in your life right now and feel very hopeful for the future.
Very often, green in dreams is symbolic of jealousy or envy – but, when the context is a positive one (without any hints of negativity), green symbolizes peace, contentment, and total freedom from doubt and worry.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful dream, Megan, and I hope you have many more just like it!
Dream Analysis: What Does it Mean to Dream Of Packing a Suitcase?!
Suitcase dreams, or dreaming about packing, have more than one dream interpretation or meaning. Remember, when a dream symbol or dream topic has different meanings, you have to look at all of the circumstances in the dream, including your emotions during the dream and immediately after waking. Also, examine what’s going on in your real life. It’s sort of like unraveling a mystery, which is always fun!
Also remember that packing anything (trunk, suitcase, bag..) carries the same interpretations.
Possible Dream Interpretation #1
Packing a suitcase in a dream, or even just dreaming about a suitcase or carrying bag can imply an intense need to get away. There is a situation or even a person that you want to pack up your life and run away from. If this is the dream analysis for you, your emotions in the dream will probably be anxious. You may be excited and happy (at the though of escaping something undesirable).
Possible Dream Interpretation #2
You may be looking forward to (or even a little intimidated by) beginning a new chapter in your life. Many times when we are starting school, moving into a new house, or starting a new job, our emotions carry over into our dreams. Suitcase and packing dreams are common while we are going through changes in our life. The dream symbolism is that you’re moving into a new part of your life.
If, during the dream, you encounter problems (such as the suitcase won’t close, you are having to pack in a hurry, you can’t find something, etc), it’s a sign that you are apprehensive and maybe even a little insecure about these changes.
Possible Dream Interpretation #3
You may need a vacation! You have probably said, or at least thought, (in the past few weeks) that you need a vacation. Suitcase/packing dreams are your brains way of saying, “Yes, you really do!”
Only the dreamer knows for certain which dream analysis is his or hers. Remember to closely examine your emotions during the dream, when you wake up, and even now – as you remember the dream. These emotions tie into the dream analysis in a MAJOR way.
Dream Analysis: What Do Flood Dreams Mean?
The dream interpretation (or dream analysis) for flood dreams is pretty cut and dry. The symbolism of the flood waters and the feelings the dreamer experiences during, and after, the dream represent circumstances and situations in the dreamer’s real world.
Floods, and other natural disasters (such as tornadoes, hurricanes, and earthquakes) represent UNCONTROLLABLE forces that are POWERFUL, and very often leave their victims utterly helpless. It’s these feelings that the dream, itself, represents.
If you dream about a flood, more likely than not you have recently felt overwhelmed in your life by something (or someone) that seemed like an uncontrollable force – one which left you feeling somewhat helpless, at their mercy, and victimized.
Think about the word flood for a minute. We talk about floods of emotion, floods of tears, floods of rain – each time we’re referring to something that seems endless and out of control. The floods in a dream represent something in our daily life that seems out of control, relentless, and overwhelming. A flood dream is almost always symbolic of something negative in our lives that we want to address but haven’t yet found a way to do so. I say almost always because there is an exception.
More than likely, if you have a flood dream, your emotions will be anywhere from frightened to extremely anxious. However, if your emotion could be described as calm, amused, or even relieved, your dream analysis is different from the one discussed above. If you have a positive emotion during your flood dream, your dream is symbolic of relief. This could mean that something WAS overwhelming, but you found a way to handle the situation and come out on top. Your dream could be a celebration of this triumph.
If you feel relief during the dream, it could mean that you have bottled-up (or “dammed up”) emotions that you want to release. Your subconscious mind is letting you know what a relief it will be when you release these emotions and sort of let the flood gates open!
Finally, ask yourself if the dream seemed to be more about the flood, itself, or the “washing away” of homes, cars, etc. If the dream seems to be more symbolic of “washing away,” you could either be looking to make changes in your life OR you could be afraid of unwanted changes washing over your life. Again, the emotions you feel in the dream will clue you in on whether this is a positive dream or a negative dream
Dream Interpretation: Why Garden Dreams are Particularly Fascinating!
Dreams about vegetable, flower, or herb gardens are absolutely fascinating for dreamers and dream analysts. What’s more, the dream interpretation can give the dreamer a lot of insight into their lives… and minds.
If you’ve had one of these dreams, the most important thing to do is to determine the condition of the garden, itself.
Here’s why: The garden is a symbol of our life, or more importantly, how we view our life.
If the garden in your dream is lush, beautiful, and causes you to feel at peace, content, and happy – it’s a sign that you are at peace with your life right now. The way the garden makes you feel in your dream mirrors your attitude toward your current life as well as the person you perceive yourself to be.
If, on the other hand, the garden in your dream “needs work” or “requires attention,” your subconscious mind could be trying to make a point – in a decidedly colorful way.
If the garden is in ruins, with dead/dried vegetation, weeds, and overgrown plants and leaves you feeling discouraged, angry, or even sad – your dream interpretation would be that there’s regret or disappointment somewhere in your life. Generally speaking, whatever emotion you feel in the dream is the emotion you feel about this REAL life situation. If you feel remorse or regret, you possibly have undealt with guilt in your life. If the situation causes you to feel angry, you obviously have an underlying anger that you haven’t fully dealt with.
If, in your dream, you feel angry at someone else for the state of the garden, as opposed to yourself, you are possibly harboring resentment and finding it difficult to forgive someone for something they’ve done or said (or failed to do or say, for that matter).
If the garden’s required work seems too much for you, it reflects a feeling of being overwhelmed in your life.
In the dream, if you find yourself simply observing everything that needs to be done… and then rolling up your sleeves to do the work, it’s a sign that you know there are things that you need to do in your daily life. If, in the dream, you don’t possess any negative feelings or emotions, it’s a sign that (deep down), you’re anxious to get started on the work you know needs to be done.
In fact, you may even be excited about the challenge!
What Does it Mean to Dream of Having Angry Outbursts?
I’ve had a few people recently ask me what it means to dream of being angry. One college freshman worded it this way, “I had a disturbing dream last night that I was a ticking time bomb. Not literally, but figuratively. Everything that happened in the dream made me mad and I exploded at just about everyone who spoke to me! That’s not like me in real life and I was just wondering what this dream means?”
A mother of two in Miami had a similar dream: “I had a dream about a week ago that I can’t forget. I yelled so much during the dream It’s a wonder my throat wasn’t sore after I woke up.”
Finally, someone who referred to themselves as “Dreamer in Alaska,” described their dreams like this: “I have had three dreams lately. Each time I am SO angry and SO mad at everyone. I don’t understand why. I cussed and even threw things in two of the dreams. I don’t cuss, so I thought that was odd. I also don’t throw things, so that was odd too. What do these dreams symbolize? I’m really curious and hope my angry dreams stop. They make me worry that I’m angry inside or something.”
Anger dreams are, pure and simple: They are a way of releasing anxiety, anger, disappointment… or, basically any negative emotions or feelings that the dreamer experiences in their day to day life. If these feelings are “repressed,” or not dealt with, the emotions sort of store up inside the individual.
Anger dreams are a way the subconscious mind tries to let the negativity out!
These dreams do not indicate that you are an angry person, at all, so don’t worry about that. They simply mean that you’ve encountered something negative, somewhere, and your mind continues to process your feelings while you sleep.
You could have contacted this negativity in a relationship, at school, at work, or even through a television show. Rest assured that these dreams will go away quickly – they seldom last beyond two dreams, three at the most.
